Answers To Common Questions About Dental Implants

At Infinity Dental Wellness, we want to help our patients restore their oral health. If they are in need of a tooth replacement, we want to be sure they are making an educated decision on a treatment that will be beneficial to their needs and lifestyle. Many patients who are in need of a tooth replacement or are experiencing severe decay that is irreparable often inquire about dental implants. For some of our patients, dental implants are an excellent choice. If you are unfamiliar, dental implants provide a permanent base for replacement teeth. Over time, the prosthesis fuses with the jawbone to create a permanent and lasting solution. We want to answer some of the most common questions we receive about dental implants.

Is the entire process for dental implants completed in one office visit?

  • Unfortunately, no. Dental implants require multiple office visits. During the first visit, the artificial post is implanted into the jawbone. We will see you in the office during the healing process to be sure there are no issues. After a few months of healing, when we know the implant is successful, we will finish the treatment.

Are dental implants noticeable in the mouth?

  • Not at all! One of the biggest benefits of dental implants is that they blend in seamlessly with the natural teeth. We match the artificial tooth structure to your natural teeth. Patients love dental implants because they not only look like natural teeth, but they function like natural teeth as well.

Do patients have difficulty eating with dental implants?

  • Unlike other tooth replacement options, dental implants function in the same way as natural teeth. Patients are able to chew all of their favorite foods with no restrictions.

Is it difficult to care for dental implants?

  • Immediately following treatment, it is important to follow our post-treatment directions. Once the implant is healed and completed, you care for dental implants in the same way you care for your natural teeth. Brushing and flossing are all that is required, along with regular dental visits for a routine hygiene examination.
