Importance of Dental Technology

Dental treatment has come a long way over the years and is continuing to change at a rapid pace. Gone are the days of using technology that would fill the air and your body with radiation. At Joel Singer, DMD, we believe in taking a holistic approach to dentistry and use various state-of-the-art digital technology advancements to provide the best results for our patients. We have adapted practices that not only benefit the health of the patients, but also improve the quality of care they are receiving. There are numerous benefits to using technology in our office, such as detecting problems more easily, planning and performing procedures more efficiently, and customizing treatment to the needs of the patients.

When visiting our office for an examination, hygiene visit, or treatment, we may use one or more of these forms of technology:

Digital X-Ray

The addition of digital X-rays has revolutionized dental treatment. Besides reducing radiation by approximately 90 percent, this method allows the X-rays to be viewed immediately and shared electronically. The process is now faster and more comfortable for the patient. This X-ray method can be used during examinations as well as many other treatments.

Intraoral Camera

This small, pen-shaped device is used to get a better idea of what is happening in your mouth. Projected onto a nearby screen, the patient is able to view first hand, along with the dentist. Images are also taken and can be shared immediately with others, as well as enlarged to get a better understanding of what is being seen in the mouth.

Sterilization System and Infection Control

We understand that safety is at the forefront of everyone’s mind. We have made it a point to use the latest sterilization and infection control systems. Examples are the use of a state-of-the-art water purification system and an autoclave, a device that kills bacteria by using steam, heat, and pressure.
