When it comes to dental care, a large percentage of adults experience some form of nervousness or anxiety. While we are sympathetic to everyone’s feelings, we never want dental care to be avoided, as it can lead to serious consequences for your current and future oral health. We want to share some helpful ways you can relax both during and prior to your dental visit. Read on to learn more about these tips.

Helpful Tips to Relax

We know that many of our patients experience some form of nerves or anxiety before visiting our office. We never want your feelings to hold you back from getting the dental care you need to ensure you have lasting oral health throughout your life. We want you to feel safe and comfortable while in our care. Here are some tips to help you relax before and during your next appointment:

Schedule Appointment at Ideal Time
Be sure to schedule an appointment when you will be in a relaxed state. We would not recommend visiting after you have worked all day and need to rush to our office. We also suggest giving yourself plenty of time to get to your appointment so you don’t feel like you will be late, causing you distress.

Bring Headphones
If you are not a fan of the sounds of the office, we suggest bringing a pair of headphones to your appointment. You can listen to your favorite music, podcast, or audiobook. Not only does it drown out the sounds, but it will also help pass the time.

Be Honest With Us

If you suffer from severe nerves and anxiety and are preventing yourself from receiving any form of dental care, we encourage you to contact our team to express your feelings. We can make additional recommendations other than what is mentioned above, or we can suggest a form of dental sedation. Sedation dentistry allows patients to receive the care they need while in a relaxed state.

We never want nervous feelings to keep you from getting the oral care you deserve. If you have not visited our office for a hygiene examination within the past six months, we encourage you to call our office located in Fort Lee, NJ and schedule an appointment today. Please express your feelings, and we will be more than happy to help you!
