Let’s Build A Bridge!

Dealing with oral health complications can be stressful. If you or a loved one has experienced tooth loss, you may be struggling to choose a tooth replacement option. We believe it is important for our patients to understand the different options we provide. One treatment that we may suggest for severe decay or a missing tooth is a dental bridge. We want to be sure that our patients feel informed and comfortable with any treatment we recommend. Read on to learn more about this treatment and how we use it to restore oral health.

What is a Dental Bridge?

If a patient experiences oral health complications, such as tooth loss, trauma to a tooth, or severe tooth decay, there are a variety of tooth replacement options we can recommend. One option is a dental bridge. A dental bridge is an artificial tooth structure that fills in a gap where one or more teeth are missing, have been extracted by a dentist, have experienced severe trauma, or have been damaged by severe decay. It is an appliance that usually has a crown on either side and one or more prosthetic teeth in the middle and is attached, or anchored, to the natural teeth on either side.

Benefits of a Dental Bridge

A dental bridge has many benefits for patients. In fact, patients often comment on how appreciative they are after their treatment is completed. A dental bridge is permanently attached inside your mouth and blends seamlessly with your natural teeth. It is very difficult to tell that a dental bridge is in your mouth. Other benefits include:

  • The ability to chew food as you would with natural teeth
  • Restored speech, which may have been compromised
  • Maintaining your facial structure
  • Regaining a confident smile
  • Preventing your natural teeth from shifting out of place
