IV Sedation

Sedation dentistry is a clear option for patients who feel anxious or nervous about dental treatment. To help you relax and stay calm throughout your visit, your dentist will administer a sedative medication, allowing our team to provide you with the care you need. Based on your individual needs and preferences, we offer several types of sedation dentistry, including:

  • null
Nitrous oxide (N2O) – Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is mixed with oxygen. You inhale the gas during your treatment to help you feel relaxed. The sedative effect is mild and wears off within minutes once we stop the flow of gas.
  • null
IV sedation – You will receive a sedative medication intravenously, i.e. through the veins. The sedative takes effect quickly, and your dentist can easily adjust the medication to ensure you stay comfortable throughout the procedure. IV sedation is also known as conscious sedation, meaning that it will not make you unconscious, although you may feel so relaxed during your treatment that you fall asleep. You may also have no memory of the appointment.

Sedation Dentistry Tools

Sedation dentistry is a tool we use to help patients feel more comfortable during their treatments. Our team members are highly trained in sedation dentistry and will monitor you to keep you safe throughout your appointment. Depending on the sedation option you choose, a friend or family member may need to drive you to and from your appointment.

You don’t have to suffer with dental anxiety. Whether you’ve had a bad dental experience in the past or you simply feel nervous about an upcoming procedure, sedation dentistry can help you overcome those challenges.
