Prepare For Your Child’s Dentist Visit
Did you know that we see children ages four and older at Infinity Dental Wellness? If you are looking for a new dentist for your children, be sure to schedule an appointment with Dr. Entrup. It is recommended that children visit the dentist for their first appointment when their teeth start to emerge. Some parents are not aware or have not made an appointment for their children yet, even though they are older. That is no problem at all, because there is no time like the present to schedule an appointment.
Preparing for the First Visit
If your child has not yet been to the dentist or perhaps has not been in a while, it can be nerve- racking. We want to share some helpful tips to ensure the young child in your life has a wonderful experience at the dentist. We want to help them understand that our office is a safe and comfortable place.
Schedule Your Appointment at an Ideal Time
We recommend being mindful of your child and their schedule. We also recommend avoiding an appointment after a long day of school or during a meal time or snack time. Our goal is to have your child in the best mood possible, and if they come into the office already exhausted or annoyed, the appointment has great potential to be problematic.
Introduce the Dentist
Be sure that your child is familiar with what a dentist does and why it is important to see the dentist. Depending on their age, there are a number of popular characters that have appeared in cartoons and books about visiting the dentist.
Control Your Emotions
We know that many adults are nervous about visiting the dentist themselves. It is extremely important to keep your feelings to yourself and remain positive and upbeat about how you feel. It is important that our office be viewed as a safe space and that children know that the dentist is a helpful adult.
We hope these tips help you with your child or loved one’s upcoming dentist appointment. If you are located in Fort Lee, NJ or the surrounding area, and you or a loved one needs a routine examination, please call our office to schedule an appointment today. We can’t wait to see you and your young loved one soon!
